“Even if you are on the right track, you’ll eventually get run over if you just sit there”. - Will Rogers
“The road to success is always under construction” - Anonymous
The 2005 West Virginia University men’s and women’s basketball teams gave us a March to remember. Memorable wins over Boston College, Villanova, Wake Forest and Texas Tech in the postseason paved the way for the men’s first Elite 8 appearance since 1959. The women defeated Pitt, Maine, Wake Forest and Kentucky on their way to a WNIT runner-up finish. Alumni and fans alike will celebrate the success of this year’s teams and the positive publicity generated nationwide for months and years to come.
We invite you to help us build on this season’s accomplishments by participating in the newly created “WVU Basketball Legacy Fund.” Should you choose to participate, your gift will be utilized for the sole purpose of improving and enhancing the overall WVU basketball program. Your support will specifically benefit basketball recruiting efforts, facility renovations and academic services.
As the quotes above note, we cannot afford to “just sit there” or end the “construction” process if we are to build the level of consistent program our fans, alumni, students, coaches and administrators deserve, desire and expect for years to come. There is strength in numbers, and together we can provide the resources necessary to ensure the continued success of West Virginia Basketball.
